Descendancy Narrative of Augustus Taylor
I am still searching for the first immigrant Taylor and the year he came to United States. I am stuck with Augustus Taylor born circa 1781 at NC or ?. In Rowan Co. NC Augustus is found as Augustus/Augustine/' Gustavus'. He married Nancy Jones on 15 Dec 1808 at Rowan Co. NC. Nancy is believed to be the daughter of Solomon Jones and Elizabeth. In Rowan County they lived on Bear Creek.
Gusty was known to have at least one brother Pierce Taylor. Pierce was married to Margaret Call and also moved to Tennessee in late 1820's then on to White County IL in the early 1830's. In Rowan County there was a group that spelled their name Talor and are believed to all be related.
On the 1830 Census for Rowan County NC we find Gustavus Taylor with 2 males under five, 1 male between five and nine, 1 male between ten and fourteen and 1 male forty -forty nine. 1 female five to nine, 1 female fifteen to twenty and 1 female fifty to fifty nine. They are also sandwiched between John Howard and Phillip Howard on Bear Creek. I feel there is a connection to these Howards but have not found the link yet.

He married Lucy Butler Mills, daughter of William E. Butler and Mary
(--?--), on 16 Nov 1857 in Madison CO. TN. He died on 8 Apr 1893 in
TN. at age 81. The children of John Taylor, Isabella Savage and

- Mary E. Taylor was born circa 1841.
- Martin J. Taylor was born circa 1842.
- John Taylor was born circa 1844.
- Samuel Taylor was born circa 1847.
- Liddey Ellen Taylor was born after 1847.
- Wiley J. Taylor was born after 1847.
- Martha Taylor was born after 1847.

- Miss Bette Taylor died at the residence of father john Taylor of the eastern part of the county last Sunday. She was 22 years old and had been an invalid the greater part of her life. She was born in 1873. She died on 29 Nov 1895 at Hardeman Co TN. "The Bolivar Bulletin".

- Paralee Taylor She was born 1844 and died after 1915.
- Thomas J. Taylor was born 1846. He married Sarah C. or E. Green,
daughter of George William Green and Elizabeth " Betsy" Richardson,
on 27 Mar 1870 in Hardeman County TN. GP McClendon J.P. Thomas J.
died on 27 Sep 1903 in Tn, buried Big Springs, at age 56. Some of

- William E. Carroll Taylor was born in May 1848 at Hardeman County,
Tennessee. He married Mary Ann Green, daughter of George William

County Tennessee. He married Alice Evans in Aug 1905 at Hardeman
County, TN. His children were:

- Martha Dora Ida Telitha Telula TAYLOR " AKA Lular " was born Jan 1881. She married Rufus Austin Jourdan, son of William Madison Jourdan and Pernecie Jane Clark, on 3 Apr 1902 at Hardeman County Tennessee. She married Jasper Baker on 8 Apr 1953 at Fulton Ky. She died on 4 Jun 1968 at South Fulton Tennessee at age 87.
- Laura Elizabeth Taylor was born 1886. She married Murphy Cooper.
- Frank Taylor was born in Sep 1888.

- Rubin Beecher Taylor was born on 15 Feb 1854 at Hardeman TN. He married Martealy Collins on 7 Sep 1871 at Hardeman TN. He died on 22 Jan 1932 at Buried in Big Springs cemetery Hardeman Tn at age 77.
- Giles Taylor was born circa 1823 at NC. He married Sarah Crouse on 17 Nov 1842 at Hardeman CO. TN. He died on 19 Sep 1863 at Battle of Chickamauga, Georgia.
